The aim of the model is to create, as accurately as possible, a three-dimensional space from a bi-dimensional image. The captured space is Villa Rocca Pisana designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi in Vicenza, Italy, in 1576; clearly belonging to the Palladian style, developed during the Renaissance. The sense of proportions and the sensibility to ancient Greek and Roman culture define the beauty of this period.
Furthermore, the inspiration for the picture came from the book "Atmospheres: architectural environments, surrounding objects" by Peter Zumthor. He refers to spaces and surroundings that allow him to feel "sublime" (p.52,53).
The translation from picture to model starts with carefully selecting the materials, texture, color, thickness, and structure are all part of the process. It follows the preparation of the single elements and finally merging the parts into a whole. A seemingly mechanical process, but always underlined by the care to create the right details that will bring the atmosphere to life.
